For Smart Flower Benelux, a manufacturer of foldable solar panel trees, we produced 2 custom concrete slabs to serve as both foundation and ballast for the sunflower. The large slab remains underground, while the round slab is visible above the surface. We made special wooden moulds, as this was a fully bespoke product. Self-compacting concrete was used, which is both stronger and smoother. In addition, the concrete was reinforced with synthetic fibres. The slabs are fitted with lifting points and various recesses for cables and anchor bolts.
