project vanBeton.com

For a proof-of-concept project in the North Sea, Solar Duck was looking for an underwater ballast system. In consultation with us and the mould supplier, Solar Duck’s design team developed a custom product. We produced 90 concrete blocks measuring 120x60x120, each weighing approximately 1,750 kg. The blocks were fitted with a large pipe recess and stainless steel anchor points for hoisting.

The blocks were used to create sets of varying numbers of blocks, which were slid onto a pipe. The sets were then crane-loaded onto trucks and driven to the port of Amsterdam. This special concrete ballast block weighs 2,250 kg (including steel pipe).
